To execute the scotch test for pinworms:

• Apply a strip of transparent scotch tape to the skin in the perianal area in the morning upon awakening. After gentle pressure, pick it up and adhere it to a slide to be sent to the laboratory. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis) are also called baby worms. The female parasites, especially in the morning, deposit thousands of eggs in the perianal area, causing intense itching.
